What is the process for setting the headspace on a rifle?
I just got a takeoff .308 barrel and want to put in place of my .243 on a Rem. 700. Before I do it, I need to know about setting the headspace. I have access to a lathe and one of my buds has a chamber reamer.
How do I measure it and how do I change it?
This is the wrong place to ask questions like that. You are going to get a bunch of crap. I don’t know of any other sites where they would talk about headspacing the chamber. Just don’t do anything you read here (I know that’s a logical contradiction but you get the idea). I am completely serious you will have to buy a new barrel if you follow these people’s advice.
